This 8-day tour (7 nights) explores Assam and Arunachal’s top attractions, starting and ending in Guwahati. You travel in comfortable 7-seater vehicles (multiple cars for 30 people) and stay in deluxe-category hotels throughout. Highlights include the sacred Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati, lush wildlife areas at the Assam–Arunachal border, the high-altitude Sela Pass and lakes, and cultural sites in Tawang and Bomdila. In Tawang you visit the 400-year-old Gaden Namgyal Lhatse Monastery – the largest Buddhist monastery in India. The itinerary also includes riverside towns, historic forts, and mountain viewpoints. (For reference, a similar itinerary covers Guwahati – Bhalukpong – Dirang – Tawang – Bomdila.) All scenic drives and local sightseeing are included.
The best season is late spring through early autumn. Peak season is May to September, when Sela Pass is clear and valleys are green. Winters (November–March) see heavy snow and road closures.
Arunachal cuisine is largely vegetarian, with local dishes like Zan (barley porridge), Khura (fermented cheese), and Gyapa Khazi (Thukpa noodle soup) commonly served. Hotels will offer North Indian and Chinese dishes. Pack some snacks (energy bars, glucose) for road travel.
